Nature’s Display: Shah Allah Ditta Caves in Islamabad
A historical village in Islamabad named after Shah Allah Ditta, which was settled around 700 years ago, has ancient caves which are believed to have been equally important for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, and Muslims in different eras.
Looking at these caves, it can be inferred that there were inns in it in some part of history and travelers used to stay here.
As per historians, the main highway, along which the caves were situated, was built in the 16th century but its use was gradually abandoned.
Some Hindu historians also speculate that Hindu God Shiva and his wife Sita took this path while going to Raj Katas.

Since this route was a common passage, it can be speculated that Sufis like Data Ganj Shakar and Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri may also have passed through here.
The caves are thousands of years old and had imprints of the Buddhist religious leader ‘Mahatma Buddha’ on them. Over time, these impressions faded but the features of the cave remained the same.
There is also a spring near the caves, the water of which is considered sacred, and even today, residents of nearby villages use it for drinking and other purposes. Thus, for thousands of years, this spring has been quenching the thirst of the people.
