The Thar desert and Tharis depend heavily on rain for their livelihood and the water spring in the village of Somo in the border-town of Khokhrapar is a blessing for the locals.
The villagers of Somo told News360 that despite digging deep boreholes, there were no traces of water but then suddenly it rose one day.
They said that due to the high arsenic level in the spring water, it could be used only for domestic use and for cattle.

According to the residents of the area, Sindh government had installed a water filtration plant but due to the incompetence of the administration, the plant is dysfunctional for the last three years.
Owing to this, the supply of drinking water to the villagers has stopped and the residents have to travel far and wide to fetch water from different wells.
