India to Set Up a ‘Cow Help Desk’ Amid Raging Covid-19

India smashed all records and witnessed nearly 421,262 fresh covid-19 positive cases on Thursday but the Chief Minister (CM) of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Yogi Adityanath is worried about the health and protection of Gau Mata (sacred cow).

CM has issued a directive to set up a help desk for the protection of cows in every district of the state.

Instead of ensuring strict implementation of covid-19 protocols in the state, Yogi Adityanath has issued instructions to all cow shelters to follow SOPs.

Amid grim hours when nearly 120 coronavirus patients are dying every hour in India, a help desk for cow protection seems a howler.

The information was shared by famous lyricists Javed Akhtar on Twitter that garnered a mixed response from the social media users.

Many of the users were of the view that setting up help camps for the sacred animal as per Hindu belief would cost no harm to the nation.

However, a few criticized the lyricist on religious grounds.

On the other hand, a few comments popped up and mocked the decision of UP’s CM.

The details shared by government included that the shelters will be equipped with all medical equipment such as oximeter and thermal scanners.

In India, the hospitals are overrun and the state is running short of oxygen supply, patients are lying on streets and their loved ones are begging for oxygen cylinders.

As per the official statement, destitute cows are being provided shelters and the government is working tirelessly to increase the number of Gaushalas (protection centers for cows).

The state of Uttar Pradesh ruled by Yogi Adityanath registered its highest tally of covid-19 deaths yesterday.
