There have been several personalities across the globe who rose to fame overnight with their acting and singing skills but Dr. Margareth Dalcolmo in Brazil earned fame with continuous dedication and hard work for coronavirus patients and sensitizing people about pandemic.
Before the advent of coronavirus in Brazil, Dalcolmo, 65, was an unknown pulmonologist at a public health institute but slowly and gradually started garnering fame in Brazil with her media appearances focusing health crisis.
She embarked on a journey of popularity in March last year after posting a short video on crisis-response meeting in the capital, Brasilia, which was watched by over 1.5 million people overnight.
“I knew nothing about social media at that point. But it got 1.5 million views”, Dr Margareth maintained.
Since then, she was approached by several media houses and the lady’s voice became one of the most heard during pandemic peak in Brazil.
Dr Margareth, despite Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro’s efforts to downplay coronavirus, kept her voice loud and struggled to spread information regarding the crisis.

With more than 270,000 deaths in the country, the world’s second-highest death toll, Margareth gave nearly 440 media appearances in all and garnered fame not many could even imagine.
“But that just makes me feel even more driven to repeat the same information 1,000 times. And I’ll do it until I collapse”, she said.
Dalcolmo became immensely popular among the masses for her dedication and hard work she rendered for coronavirus patients.
