Alien in Pakistan, Indian Journalist Off-Aired Over Irresponsibility

In Pakistan, the journalists are often heard spewing misinformation and ‘breaking news’ sans proof but they are never questioned

Contrary to what usually happens in Pakistan, the Indian Media Group off-aired and deducted one month’s salary of senior journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai over his irresponsible comments during the Republic Day protests by farmers in India.

Sardesai is the consulting editor with the India Today Group.

“Sardesai had tweeted, “One person, 45-year-old Navneet, was killed allegedly in police firing at ITO. Farmers tell me: the ‘sacrifice’ will not go in vain, on January 26”, India.com reported.

Upon realization, the senior journalist deleted his previous tweet and posted another tweet referring to the earlier one.

However, the treatment of the Indian media group with a senior journalist on its payroll, who was off-aired, is in contrast to what happens in Pakistan where the senior journalists enjoy excessive liberty.
