Attack on University OF Michigan Rabbis home on Jewish New Year

Wednesday night there was an attack involving a masked gunman at the home of a Rabbi from the University of Michigan, sources from the university told NEWS360.

“The intifada has been globalized. A student gathering at a rabbis home was violently disrupted by a masked gunman, quoted the source.

This was a violent anti-Semitic terror attack on a holy Jewish day. Students at University of Michigan have yelled all year to globalize the intifada and now their dream has come true.

Intifada brings violence and terrorism and now the chickens have come home to roost. Groups at University of Michigan have encouraged this and now it has happened.

There have been multiple attacks at Michigan on Jews in the last ten days. Where is the Governor? Where is the Federal government as Jews are being hunted.

At the University of Michigan the school isn’t taking care of Jewish students. What would the response be from the school if this was any other minority group? Why is it acceptable that Jews are beaten? The uproar would be immense if any other minority group was attacked.

The local Jewish community has organized private security teams yet it is not enough. It is clear and apparent that Jews are not safe at the University of Michigan, and simply and sadly, Jews cannot depend upon local law enforcement alone. Jews must stand up for themselves and protect themselves.

We warn Jewish families that this isn’t the right school for your children to attend if the University is incapable of keeping Jews safe. Many months ago, the ADL rightfully criticized University of Michigan and Jewish safety is clearly not a priority for the University of Michigan. Betar and Shields of David are willing to fund and provide Krav Maga and legal weapons training for U of Michigan students as we have done in other locations.

Clearly at this point University of Michigan is not safe for Jews. Those considering the university should re-consider their choice. The school has given lip service to Jews,” said Ross Glick, Director of Betar.

Betar is an organization, devoted to strong, tough proud Jewish Zionism and past leaders of Betar include former Israeli Prime Ministers Menachem Begin, Yitzchak Shamir and Benzion Netanyahu, PM Netanyahu’s father. The organization has a rich history in self-defense, loud strong activism and Jewish action.

We expect other organizations to join us and assist U Michigan Jewish students with their safety.
