India has long been facing communal riots between the Muslim minority and Hindus and after a recent incident in Ghaziabad, Delhi police received a complaint against Twitter and few prominent personalities for spreading communal hatred.

In early June, an elderly Muslim man was allegedly assaulted in Ghaziabad, and actress Swara Bhaskar, Twitter MD Manish Maheshwari and journalist Khanum Sherwani raised their voices against the incident.

However, instead of showing support for the alleged victim, a complaint was lodged against the aforementioned people by a lawyer Amit Acharya.

Notably, in Ghaziabad, elderly Abdul Samad Saifi was allegedly held captive and beaten by a group of men who forced him to chant a Hindu slogan.

Meanwhile, Delhi police maintained that the incident occurred as Samad provided the suspects with a wrong amulet that didn’t work for them.

Actress Swara Bhaskar, in support of the elderly man, took to his Twitter and posted multiple tweets.

Not only her, but journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani also stood up in support of the Muslim man.

After the solace shown by the prominent figures, Amit Acharya accused them of using the incident to communalize and spread hate against the religions.
