After a Long Pause, Drone Strikes ‘Re-Inaugurated’ by US

The latest air strike was carried out in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan and US officials claimed that no civilian was killed in it

After a long pause, United States (US) has re-inaugurated the drone strikes in Afghanistan claiming to kill the mastermind of Kabul Airport bombings in which 13 American soldiers were killed besides a legion of Afghan civilians.

The drone strike was carried out in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

Earlier on Friday, US President Joe Biden had asserted that the Kabul bombings were carried out by Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP).

He had warned that the US would hunt down the attackers.

According to Reuters, A Reaper drone launched from the Middle East hit the brain behind suicide bombings while he was in a vehicle with another member of the Jihadi group.

Further, the US has warned its citizens in Kabul to leave the airport gates immediately as it fears more attacks from ISKP.

The political analysts said that any more aggression from ISKP will draw the ire of the US and the episodes of drone attacks in Afghanistan might restart.

They said that a possible settlement on the issue between the Afghan Taliban and America cannot be ruled out as well.

The analysts believe that it is highly possible that the Taliban regime allows the US to carry out drone strikes against ISKP as it wants to guarantee the global community that it is not siding with any terrorist groups.
