During the bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the former royals Harry and Meghan revealed that the Palace had cut them off financially and this convinced a compassionate fan to set up a fundraiser for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Anastasia Hanson, who hails from California, started the fundraiser on GoFundMe to pay the mortgage on the mansion of Harry and Meghan.

The revelations in the interview garnered solicitude for the couple from millions of their fans across the world and Anastasia was one of them.

The campaign was set up to pay the mortgage of $14.6 million and the 56-year-old wanted strangers to donate cash to help the son and daughter-in-law of Lady Di.

The page was titled ‘Harry and Meghan $5 Donation to Buy Home’. However, the fundraiser has been shut down after it just raised $110.

While talking to The Sun, Anastasia Hanson maintained that the couple mentioned they had a rough time so the fundraiser was a way to give help, compassion, and love by paying their home loan in full.

As per reports, Hanson herself started the bid with $5, followed by ‘a supporter’ who donated $100, and an ‘anonymous’ person who gave $5.

“Were 2 million supporters to donate just $5 each, the goal is met and the loan can be paid off. After their interview, I was moved with compassion to help get their home paid off. As they are now financially independent, this will help and be a loving gift”, the now-closed page read.

In the interview, Harry claimed that he was compelled to sign deals with Netflix and Spotify after Buckingham Palace cut off financial means.

“My family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us,” he informed.
