Netanyahu has taken Israel into blind alley

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is confronting increasing anger and punitive measures from European nations over its military actions in Gaza. Several European countries have imposed sanctions, halted arms sales and taken unprecedented diplomatic steps in response to the high civilian death toll and humanitarian crisis in the region.
Spain, Ireland and Norway recognised Palestine as a state signaling a shift in European policy and a rebuke of Israel’s hardline stance. France, Germany and other EU members have also condemned Israel’s military operations with some imposing restrictions on Israeli settlers involved in West Bank violence.
European leaders while affirming Israel’s right to self-defence argue that its offensive has gone too far causing unacceptable civilian suffering. Public protests across Europe have pressured governments to take stronger action including calls for arms embargoes.
Netanyahu’s government has dismissed the criticism as biased accusing Europe of ignoring Hamas’s role in the conflict. However the growing isolation poses challenges for Israel’s international standing. With European unity fracturing over the issue the pressure may influence future diplomatic and economic relations pushing Israel to reconsider its strategy in Gaza.
