Netanyahu is the first guest of Trump at White House
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Feb 4, the two governments have said, according to Reuters.
The meeting is set to take place amid a fragile six-week ceasefire that has brought a temporary pause to 15 months of Israel’s war on Gaza.
According to Kan News Agency, the White House has prepared an incentive package to encourage Netanyahu to proceed with the deal.
The package reportedly includes sanctions targeting the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu in late November last year for “crimes against humanity and war crimes” during the Gaza conflict.
Trump had told reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday he wants Egypt to take in Palestinians from the enclave, where much of the population has been displaced by Israel’s military onslaught.
