New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Tuesday that he will be stepping down after a withering report from the state’s attorney general that concluded the allegations against him of sexually harassing 11 women.

“Wasting energy on distractions is the last thing that state government should be doing, and I cannot be the cause of that”, the 63-year-old remarked.

He added that in the given circumstances, the best way he could help the government was to step down.

While addressing his three daughters, Cuomo maintained that he wants them to know that he never did and never would intentionally disrespect a woman, treat any woman differently and that is God’s honest truth.

“Your dad made mistakes. And he apologized, and he learned from it and that’s what life is all about”, he added.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is going to serve the rest of Cuomo’s term after his resignation.
