One of the world’s oldest and highly recognized ice cream brands Ben & Jerry’s is bidding farewell to its sales in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs) after the concerns raised by its trusted partners.

The ice cream brand is owned by Unilever since 2000s and had been sharing happiness in Israel since 1987.

Ben & Jerry’s is famous for running social campaigns on a wide range of issues including racism, climate change etc.

In a statement, Ben & Jerry’s explained the reason for closing their factories and stores in OPTs which was slammed by the country’s new Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. He said the company has decided to be recognized as ‘anti-Israel’ ice-cream.

The brand declared that despite having a longstanding partnership with the licensee which manufactures and distributes ice cream in Israel, they have now decided to call off the renewal of license agreement which is due at the end of next year.

Interestingly, one of the points mentioned by the brand caught the attention of internet users and they are looking for clarification.

“Although Ben & Jerry’s will no longer be sold in the OPT, we will stay in Israel through a different arrangement”, reads the statement.
