One year on; Israeli hostage sister gives account of family’s misery
Yarden Gonen elder sister of Romi Gonen (24), who was shot in the arm and taken hostage while trying to escape the Nova Music Festival last year.
Romi’s friends were also murdered during the attack. Since then, Romi’s family has been relentlessly campaigning for her release and that of all 101 hostages held in Hamas captivity.
Yarden Gonen last evening stated that: “We are fighting for our loved ones. We are not fighting for the sake of war. Any one from the international community who really supports a ceasefire, must understand that they must seek to release all the hostages unconditionally.
We cannot do this alone. We need the help of the international community. We need the help of the world. If everyone will place pressure on the Hamas terror organization – Everything will look differently!”, said Yarden.
She continued, “Our values are based on not leaving anyone behind. After the execution of the six hostages several weeks ago, everyone understands how fast we have to work to release them. We have no time to spare. There is no such thing as a high price tag for their lives.”
