The video of the incident went viral on social media and a large number of users are of the view that Pope Francis has broken the traditions by accepting the gift from spider-man as the community keeps no faith in superheroes.
The spider-man was a 28-year-old worker, Villardita, who volunteers entertaining children in hospitals in the superhero costume.
While sharing his experience, Villardita informed media that he presented the mask to the Holy Father as a symbol and asked him to pray for the children battling for life in the hospitals.
“To tell you the truth, I expected that this meeting could spark curiosity, but not that it would go all over the world”, he added.
