Sikhs attack on Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar in London

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar experienced a tense moment in London when Khalistani extremists attempted to attack him as he was departing from a discussion at Chatham House.

A video shared on social media showed a man sprinting towards Jaishankar’s vehicle and tearing the Indian national flag in the presence of London police officers, who appeared to take no action. According to ANI, the demonstrators expressed their opposition loudly, making attempts to interrupt the minister’s activities.

The protest occurred during Jaishankar’s official visit to the UK, which aims to strengthen the India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership. His trip includes meetings with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and other senior officials to discuss critical geopolitical issues, security cooperation, and bilateral trade agreements.

Following his engagements in the UK, Jaishankar is scheduled to travel to Ireland, where he will meet with Irish Foreign Minister Simon Harris and interact with the Indian diaspora.

This incident highlights the ongoing security concerns for Indian diplomats abroad, particularly in regions where pro-Khalistani protests have become more frequent.

The lack of police intervention during the attack raises questions about the measures in place to ensure the safety of foreign dignitaries in the UK.
