India, being the second state with the most coronavirus daily cases in the world after United States (US), is facing a grim situation as of now around 50% of Supreme Court (SC) judges have tested positive for the pathogen and will function from homes.
As per a report in The Times of India, the Supreme Court in India decided that all judges would function from their homes due to coronavirus spread and the benches will assemble through video links.
“The entire court premises including courtrooms, are being sanitized and the benches will assemble an hour later than the scheduled time of either 10:30 or 11:30”, the report added.

On Saturday alone, 44 staffers were tested positive for coronavirus, a source in SC confirmed.
“Most of my staff and law clerks have tested positive,” one judge informed media.
The SC E-Committee headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud has reportedly purchased 1,600 video links for the purpose of conducting virtual hearing of cases.
All judges of the Supreme Court will be conducting the court room proceedings from their respective residences. IT staff has been sent to all the judges residences. The country has currently taken over Brazil to become the second most affected country in the world and today is the sixth consecutive day for reporting over 100,000 daily cases.
As per data by the Indian Ministry of Health, the country on Monday reported 169,914 new covid-19 cases and 904 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The sources have confirmed that the total number of cases stands at 13,527,717 and there are 1,201,009 active cases in the country at present.
