While India is spiraling deeper into the coronavirus crisis, Muslims across the state who were suppressed for decades have now sprung up to lend a helping hand to the entire nation irrespective of religion or sect.
As India is facing the deadliest surge in coronavirus cases, thousands are dying each day and patients are longing for oxygen in the hospitals, Indian Muslims have pulled up their socks to help the nation in crisis.
Rehman Education and Charitable Trust, set up five years ago by Mufti Mohammad Sarodi in Surat, estimated that it has provided 300 oxygen cylinders so far to the covid-19 patients.

On the other hand, Danish Siddiqui and Saddam Qureshi, two Muslim residents of Bhopal have performed the last rituals of so far around 60 Hindu coronavirus victims who were abandoned by their families.
In such crucial hours when families are scared of getting close to their loved ones, these two Muslim citizens of India are helping other nationals disregarding the religious differences.
Despite fasting, they both visit hospitals daily to perform the last rituals of the patients left at the mercy of hospitals by their relatives.

Additionally, Pyare Khan, a resident of Nagpur in India spent nearly Rs 10 million to provide 400 metric tons of medical liquid oxygen to the hospitals in and around the city.
Pyare Khan, who used to sell oranges at Nagpur railway station in 1995, donated the cylinders as ‘oxygen zakat’ in the month of Ramazan and announced it as his service to humanity.

Muslims who were suppressed in the Hindu-dominated state for years and are still the victims of religious based extremism are standing shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with their Hindu brothers.
However, a few BJP leaders took strong exception against the presence of Muslim volunteers in the crematories and maintained that ‘Muslims should not get into religious rituals when they have no knowledge of it’.
