A survey revealed that young Britons don’t want to be under a monarchy and they want an elected head of state rather than royals ruling over them.

In a survey conducted by YouGov, some 4,780 adults, with ages ranging between 15 and 49, opined on the question of whether they wanted a queen or king as the head of the state.

The results although showed 53% participants backing the royals but it was a 5% decline compared to a similar survey in 2019.
And interestingly, the losing interest of young Britons in monarchy revealed in the survey is alarming as around 41% of those aged between 18 and 24 years voted no on the question while 31% still sided with the monarchy and nodded on having a queen or king as the head of Britain.
The last few months have proved rough for British royals as Prince Philip breathed his last in April while a bombarding interview of queen’s grandson Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in March also increased negative sentiments among young Britons.
Queen Elizabeth II has ruled United Kingdom (UK) for 69 years and she will complete her Platinum Jubilee next year.
