There is Still Hope in Extension of Evacuation Deadline
The Taliban, on Tuesday, warned the foreign armed forces to leave Afghanistan by August 31 and ruled out the possibility of an extension in the date but there is other side of the story as well
Despite shunning possibilities of extension in the evacuation date of foreign forces from Afghanistan, there is still hope that the Taliban may agree to it for the sake of global recognition.
The Taliban, on Tuesday, warned the foreign armed forces to leave Afghanistan by August 31 and ruled out the possibility of an extension in the date.
However, the US media also revealed yesterday that CIA Director William Burns held a secret meeting with the Taliban co-founder and political leader Abdul Ghani Baradar on Monday.
The meeting was in line with the increasing pressure on US President Joe Biden by western allies to extend the evacuation date.
Further, the Group of Seven (G7) including the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan have agreed to formulate a roadmap for talks with the Taliban.

While addressing the virtual meeting on Tuesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the Taliban must allow the safe exit of people from Afghanistan after the August 31 deadline.
He put this as the ‘number one’ condition for talks with the militia that has taken over Afghanistan on August 15.
The clandestine meeting between CIA and Taliban official translates that the US is willing to get an extension in the deadline after pressure from its allies.
Notably, World Bank has frozen aid to Afghanistan a few days after International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Germany suspended payments to Afghanistan.
So, there are high chances that the Taliban will agree to the demand of the global powers to avoid embargoes.
