US to Decide If Pakistan Had a Role in Taliban Offensive
The bill is focused on a comprehensive study to evaluate the support Taliban got during America’s 20 years in the country.
In a recent development on the Afghanistan issue, 22 US Senators have moved a bill in the Senate that will assess the role of Pakistan before and after the fall of Kabul and in the Taliban offensive in Panjshir Valley.
The bill was tabled by Senator Jim Risch, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to address the disastrous withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan.
As per details, the bill is focused on a comprehensive study to evaluate the support Taliban got during America’s 20 years in the country.

It requires a detailed report on how the Taliban got support during all those years that is to be submitted by the secretary of state, in consultation with the secretary of defence and the director of national intelligence.
The report needs to reach the committees within 180 days after the enactment of the bill.
Most importantly, the act requires an assessment of the support by state and non-state actors including the government of Pakistan for the offensive of the Taliban in the Panjshir Valley.
Not only this, the report will also focus on foreign assistance to the entities that supported Taliban.
“We continue to see the grave implications of the Biden administration’s haphazard withdrawal from Afghanistan”, Senator Risch said in a statement.
As per details, the bill will also seek to impose sanctions on Taliban for terrorism, drug trafficking and human rights abuses.
Federal Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari took notice of the development and poured scorn on it.
She maintained that Pakistan will be made to pay a price for being an ally of the US ‘War on Terror’ once again.
So again Pak will be made to pay heavy price 4 being an ally of US in its “War on Terror” as a Bill (see pp 25-26) is introduced in US Senate in aftermath of the US’s chaotic Afghan withdrawal followed by collapse of ANA & Ashraf Ghani’s flight to UAE. https://t.co/PQFQyYkEN2

“Pak now being scapegoated for this failure. This was never our war; we suffered 80000 casualties, a decimated economy, over 450 drone attacks by r US ‘ally’ & disastrous fallout of these attacks on our tribal ppl & area”.
Shireen Mazari called for the global powers to realize their own mistakes instead of targeting Pakistan.
