WEB DESK: Barcelona president Joseph Maria Bartomeu has resigned ahead of a possible no-confidence vote against him.
Twenty thousand Messy fans signed the petition and demanded his resignation. The Barcelona club’s board of directors has also resigned.
Bartomeu said in a televised speech that his resignation was a “deliberate decision”.
Barthemo was outraged by Bayern Munich’s 8-2 defeat in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in August this year and last year’s poor financial situation at the club.
After the Champions League defeat, Lionel Messi’s transfer request was criticized by the Barcelona president and he faced mistrust, but Messi’s request for his transfer was not approved.
He tried to persuade the Catalan government to end the censorship vote because of the corona virus, but to no avail.
