Saudi Arabia & Twitter Hug For Women Empowerment
This month, Saudi authorities amended the law and allowed women to live independently and perform Hajj without a male guardian
Following Saudi Arabia’s efforts for women empowerment, Twitter has introduced an “Arabic feminine” language setting that will help the social media site to address the users using that specific grammar.
The new feature is gender specified and the tweets and exploring options will automatically appear in the Arabic feminine so that the user gets to see all options in that particular language.
All the user has to do is access the new setting, and go to “Settings and privacy,” from where they can select “Accessibility, display, and languages.
In the “Languages” option, go to the “Display language” and switch to “Arabic (feminine)”.

In this regard, journalist Mahwash Ajaz termed the new feature introduced by Twitter as ‘interesting’.

Further, Twitter’s Communications Head for the Middle East and North Africa Rasha Fawakhiri, said, “We want our service to reflect the voices that shape the conversations that take place on our service”.
Although Twitter didn’t opt for a non-binary gender language option in Arabic, however, Fawakhiri confirmed that the company has other gender-neutral projects in the pipeline.
All these initiatives made by Twitter are inspired by Saudi Arabia that is working on strategies to promote women empowerment.
Recently, the Saudi authorities amended its law and allowed women to live independently without requiring the consent of their father or male guardian.
In another major step for dispelling the impression of patriarchy, the authorities declared that women can now register themselves for the annual Hajj pilgrimage without a male guardian.
Moreover, a Dubai-based global logistics company Aramex in April incorporated “Arabic (feminine)” language option on its website.
