Historically Significant ‘Sabeel’ Promotes Religious Harmony

In the first 10 days of Muharram, the Shia community across the globe set up small stalls, commonly known as Sabeel, at various locations. It serves water, juices, tea, fruit, and food to everyone without distincion of belief.

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar in Shia Muslims mourn the death of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), who died in the battle of Karbala and his troops were deprived of water for 5 days.

Sabeel is a way to pay tribute to the thirst bore by Imam Hussaim, his family and companions.
