Vandals Have Obnoxious Obsession With Statues in Punjab
In July, the statue of hockey player Samiullah Khan was also marred and its ball and stick were stolen
The vandals in Punjab have developed an obnoxious obsession with vandalizing statues of historical figures and the latest one is the sculpture of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Lahore Fort.
The government has although apprehended the suspect who is an activist of outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), frequent episodes of vandalizing sculptures of heroes depict a bizarre mindset.
This is the third time that the statue of Ranjit Singh has been damaged since it was inaugurated in 2019 on his 180th death anniversary.

The social media users are exasperated at the act and said that it would portray the country’s negative image around the world.
They have called for the government to give strict punishment to the vandal to eradicate such incidents in the future.
The angry social media users said that the scenes of the video remind of the time when the Taliban desecrated Buddist sculptures in Afghanistan and now that they are back in power, their ideological followers in Pakistan have gathered the courage too.
