Dawn Trims Salaries of Employees by 8-10%

The salaries were reduced of the employees with more than Rs 30,000 as salary in the month of August

Leading English daily Dawn has reduced the salaries of the employees by 8% to 10 %.

As per sources, the pay cut is applicable to employees having salaries more than Rs 30,000.

The decision has caused unrest among the staffers already dealing with the economic crisis.

The sources also revealed that the media organization had previously increased the salaries but slashed them down in 2019 amid the pandemic.

The workers, suffering from acute financial crunch, went on a protest but the owners paid no heed to it.

While talking to News360, the workers expressed helplessness in the matter whereas senior journalists and media men condemned the decision of the leading English daily.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) leader GM Jamali said that the reduction in salaries is actually the economic murder of the journalists.

Karachi Press Club (KPC) Secretary Rizwan Bhatti opined that the media men are already in an extreme crisis and the fresh cut has added insult to their injuries.
