The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to assist Sindh police in the recovery of Dua Zehra.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to assist Sindh police in the recovery of Dua Zehra.

The SHC judge conducted the hearing of the Dua Zehra recovery case in which Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon and others appeared before the court.

The Sindh IG Police apprised the high court that seven teams have been deployed in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and three technical teams are assisting the case. 16 suspects have been arrested and three among them were released, whereas, an accused secured protective bail.

He said that 12 suspects are currently in the custody of police and two were shifted to Karachi.

The Sindh police chief said that some evidence were collected regarding Dua Zehra.

The SHC judge questioned the suspicions of human trafficking. To this, the IG Sindh replied that there was no suspicion of human trafficking and that the father of Dua Zehra’s husband is a driver of Punjab University’s registrar.

Justice Iqbal Kalhoro questioned whether the girl has appeared before the Lahore High Court (LHC). The petitioner’s lawyer said that Zehra did not appear before the LHC.

Justice Kalhoro remarked that the court wants the recovery of the girl and her meeting with her parents as her abduction case was filed in a local police station. He questioned how the case will be concluded if the girl do not appear before the court.

The petitioner’s lawyer expressed suspicions about Zehra’s departure from the country. To this, the judge questioned whether the petitioner wants FIA to keep an eye on the girl to stop her suspected departure from the country.

Dua Zehra’s parents said that they have Dua Zehra’s passport. To this, the judge remarked that the court will order to block the passport.

Later, the court ordered FIA to assist the police force in the recovery of the girl and keep a close eye to stop the girl from travelling abroad.

The SHC also withdrew the show-cause notice issued to former IG Sindh Kamran Fazl and adjourned the hearing till June 10.

During the hearing, Zehra’s father and his lawyer told News360 that the ‘abductors of the girl’ were asking them for conciliation and giving threats to the family.
