Pervaiz Elahi may lose Punjab CM’s slot after leaving PTI’s side

The seat of Punjab CM Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who has only 10 lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly from his political party Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), is owed to Tehreek-e-Insaf.

If Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab Chief Minister (CM) tries to block the dissolution of the provincial assembly on January 11 then his own position would be in danger as the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is already fed up with their false promises and it would not further believe in him.

PA session’s date changes

When the winds of government changes blew in the country, the power of the PML-N government had been established in Punjab once again and Hamza Shehbaz became the Chief Minister. Soon after the political game changed, the power went to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi with the support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

PTI is the largest party in the Punjab Assembly and has 180 members while PML-N has the second-largest majority in the House and has 167 members in the Punjab Assembly.

In Punjab Assembly, PML-Q has only 10 MPAs while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has only seven lawmakers. The number of independent candidates in the PA is six and only one MPA of the Rah-e-Haq Party.

The year 2022, which has become a part of Pakistan’s history due to political turmoil, that during March, after the change of the federal government, there was also a change in Punjab and Usman Buzdar lost his chief ministership and became a part of history.

Imran Khan, breaking PDM’s political trick, decided to make Pervaiz Elahi the Chief Minister of Punjab and threw all the support of his party in his cradle.

Pervaiz Elahi, who was enjoying the Chief Ministership of Punjab for five months, once again became a victim of threats and the Governor of Punjab Balighur Rehman de-notified him under an order and he once again came out of the Chief Minister’s House.

The Punjab CM challenged the notification of the governor in the Supreme Court (SC) and the decision came in his favour. The court invalidated the notification of Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman and reinstated Pervaiz Elahi.

Pervaiz Elahi’s warning to PTI

As soon as the Chief Minister was restored, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi started to back off from implementing the political trick of his most important ally and did not dissolve the assembly on the instructions of Imran Khan which also angered the PTI.

During the hearing in the SC, he assured that the Punjab Assembly will not be dissolved, while PTI wants to put more pressure on the federal government by dissolving Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies.

Pervaiz Elahi, who submitted a written reply to the Supreme Court, owes PTI a promise. If he does not follow the demand of PTI to dissolve the assembly, then there will be difficulties.

According to the sources, if Pervaiz Elahi tries to play any political game with PTI, which would face failure the PML-N is also fed up with his broken promises and will not support him.
