Car prices’ hike irks industries and production minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mahmud expressed outrage over the hike in car prices in Pakistan and he sought a report from the concerned officials.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mahmud took notice of another hike in locally-manufactured car prices in Pakistan. He was also irked by the non-provision of the cars to the buyers on the prescribed time.

Mahmud sought a comprehensive report from the Engineering Development Board (EDB) on the automobile industry.

The officials of the Engineering Development Board (EDB) told News360 that the industries minister sought a report from the institution to ascertain the reasons.

The minister also sought details of actions taken against the automobile industry for not providing the cars to the buyers on the prescribed time.

Mahmud asked EDB to submit details in the report regarding the impacts of rupee devaluation on the automobile industry, rising rates of raw material, freight charges, and imported and locally-manufactured spare parts of the vehicles.
