Petrol Price: Imran Khan to Show ‘Mercy’ on Nation Again

The authority has suggested an increase of Rs 5.25 per liter in the petrol price and Rs 3.5 in the rate of high-speed diesel for first 15 days of October

It can be anticipated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will show mercy on the nation by not increasing the petrol price as suggested by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and refinery calculation.

The authority has suggested an increase of Rs 5.25 per liter in the petrol price and Rs 3.5 in the rate of high-speed diesel for the first 15 days of October.

The final decision in this regard will be taken by the finance ministry after consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Petrol is currently selling at Rs 123.30 per liter while diesel is at Rs 120.04 per liter but the government says the rates are the lowest in the region despite the global surge in oil prices.

The calculation by the oil refinery until September-end suggests an increase in the petrol price by Rs 6.51 per liter.

The calculation also shows a surge of Rs 3.94 per liter in rates of high-speed diesel.

The government is to take the final decision by Thursday evening and it is expected that Imran Khan will again show ‘mercy’ on the nation by not raising the petrol price as suggested by OGRA or refinery calculation.
