Razak Dawood Termed Uzbekistan as ‘Lucky’ For Pakistanis

The adviser stressed that Uzbekistan has not only opened trade doors but also giving facilities like Russia and China

Citing the potential in the market, Commerce Adviser Abdul Razak Dawood recommended Pakistanis to invest in Uzbekistan.

The adviser said Uzbekistan is an emerging market in Asia and has become a trade hub alongside Russia and China.

He said Pakistani investors have a golden opportunity to start exporting goods to the Central Asian country.

He listed mangoes, oranges, rice, leather jackets, furniture, and sports goods are some of the best picks in the first phase of launching the business.

Explaining the objectives of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), Razak said that the ruling government is taking effective measures to promote regional trade.

He added Pakistan wanted to include Afghanistan and Uzbekistan as its trading partners.

Dawood emphasized that Uzbekistan has not only opened the trade doors but also giving facilities like Russia and China and pushed Pakistanis to take advantage of it.

Considering the ongoing situation, the commerce adviser told News360 that exports of pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, masks, gloves, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be profitable in the ongoing financial year.

Will the textile sector get a zero rating facility?

Razak Dawood said the government has implemented a sophisticated system of issuing tax refunds to the textile sector, however, providing a zero-rated tax facility wouldn’t be possible at the moment.
