Tarin Repeats Fawad’s Mantra on Petrol Price
The finance minister compared that the price of commodity is Rs 123 per liter in Pakistan while it is 250 rupees per liter in India and 198 per liter in Bangladesh
Repeating the old mantra of his colleague Fawad Chaudhry, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin defended the recent surge of Rs 5 in petrol price maintaining it is still lowest in Pakistan compared to neighboring countries.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that the criticism on the recent increase in petrol prices is incomprehensible as the government is providing the commodity at cheaper rate compared to other countries in the region.
Tarin said the petrol price is Rs 123 per liter in Pakistan while it is 250 rupees per liter in India and 198 in Bangladesh.
Earlier, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry came up to defend the government on the change in petroleum rates in mid-July.

Tarin said that International Monetary Fund (IMF) is pressing them for increasing taxes and slashing subsidies however the government has not agreed to it.
