Javed Akhtar Gets in Trouble After Equating RSS With Taliban

Indian screenwriter Javed Akhtar must apologize with folded hands for comparing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Taliban, the political wing of the group Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson demands.
Javed Akhtar equated the Taliban and RSS during a show on NDTV last week.
“Just like the Taliban want an Islamic State, there are those who want a Hindu Rashtra. These people are of the same mindset — be it Muslim, Christian, Jews, or Hindus”, the writer said as reported by Hindustan Times.

The comments of Javed Akhtar comparing the Indian and Afghani groups have drawn widespread ire among its supporters and a police complaint has also been lodged against him.
BJP Spokesperson Ram Kadam said the screenwriter’s comments have hurt the sentiments of millions of people across India and the world who follow the ideology of RSS.
