Nadia Hussain Edifies Women’s Right to Divorce a Man

Pakistani model-turned-actress Nadia Hussain has raised her voice for educating women about their right to divorce a man.

In Muslims, Nikahnama is a wedding contract signed by the couple in front of a group of witnesses as they start a new chapter of their lives.

According to the nikahnama and Muslim Family Ordinance 1961, all women should know about clause 18 that speaks about how a woman can save herself from a troublesome partner.

While reviewing her nikahnama, Nadia said that it is the right of every girl who is starting a new chapter of her life to know the details of the contract.

In the video message, Nadia said that though no woman wants to destroy her married life.

However, sometimes life teaches lessons and asks to take tough decisions and stand firm with them.

“Please don’t get it crossed out without your permission or knowledge”, she wrote in the caption.

Correcting the concept, Nadia said that a woman enjoys the same right as a man has the right to divorce his wife, lamenting that the clause is elided and not given much attention.

She explained that her message is not to support divorces but to enlighten her followers to know the details of Nikahnama which guides a way to exit a toxic marriage.

In 2003, Nadia Hussain tied the knot with investment banker Atif Khan and both have been successful in their professional and personal lives with 4 kids.
