Shoaib Mansoor to Return to Films with Abhi Song

Renowned filmmaker Shoaib Mansoor, who goes off-the-radar between projects, is making a filmi return with a song in an upcoming film Abhi. The song Ab Hamari Baari Hai Sir Jee has been composed by Gohar Mumtaz (of Jal fame) who is also the co-producer of the film which he is producing in collaboration with Daniel Johns Productions.

Abhi will also launch the film career of the popular musician/singer turned actor who has also written the script, based on a story also conceived by him.

Shoaib Mansoor is known for his bold films Khuda Ke Liye and Bol, and wrote the songs of all his three films including Verna. With Abhi, he ‘reunites’ with Kubra Khan whom he had ‘nearly’ cast as the main lead in Verna after Mahira Khan’s initial refusal.However, with Mahira Khan finally getting the role, his chances of working with Kubra were gone until ‘Abhi’. With this song, he joins the list of people to collaborate with both Gohar Mumtaz and Atif Aslam, the original members of Jal. Atif Aslam played the lead in Bol whereas Gohar is the ‘ShoMan’ of Abhi.

And that’s not all. With Gohar Mumtaz composing the soundtrack, the listeners are waiting to see how the songs will shape up and who will feature as the playback singers. Well, there will be a surprise entry with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Aima Baig, and that person’s name is Kubra Khan who will be singing for the first time, ever.

She will not only join the likes of actresses who have done playback in films but who knows, she might make a name for herself in music as well.The film has completed two spells in Azad Kashmir and Lahore and features a star cast including Usman Peerzada, Asif Raza Mir, Saleem Sheikh, Hina Bayat, Ehteshamuddin, Mehmood Aslam, and Yasra Rizvi.

Established Director of Photography Asad Mumtaz Malik, the man responsible for beautifying Kubra Khan’s last TV drama Alif, is calling the shots, and the film is expected to release sometime in 2021.
