Anchorperson Supports PMDA, Unveils Apathy of Media Owners
Zaryab Rajput recalled how she and her team were unreasonably laid off amid pandemic situation but the owners didn't compromise their luxuries
Anchorperson Zaryab Rajput bawled out the media owners and supported the suggested imposition of a fine worth Rs 250 million on television (TV) channels in the Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA) ordinance for running fake news.
She is currently hosting Subha e Pakistan morning show on Pakistan Television (PTV) News after being sacked from Hum News where she hosted Views Makers.
Zaryab Rajput recalled the apathy of the media owners and shared how she and her team were unreasonably laid off.
She said that the suggested fine of Rs 250 million is like a drop in the ocean for the media owners.

Zaryab said one day, she was told about the sacking from the program but no reason was given for it.
The anchorperson shared that she was dragged from pillar to post when she tried to inquire about the reason behind the move.

Then, she shared that the layoff was linked with the coronavirus situation but on the parallel side, people were hired on heavy salaries.
Zaryab said the slot for advertisements in the show was usually 10 to 11 minutes but the duration extended during her last few days there, indicating an influx of more ads.
The anchorperson criticized that media owners will sacrifice others but will not tolerate any kind of cutbacks in their luxuries.
Earlier, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had labeled the media owners as ‘Kaalia’ for their malpractices.
Fawad said that the media houses received Rs 700 million from the government during the past 2 months but they didn’t pay salaries to the employees.
He alleged that some media owners are also involved in money laundering.
