The Asma Jahangir Conference held in Lahore witnessed unexpected events as some of the people from the audience started sloganeering against Pakistan Army in the presence of top ministers and journalists.

A group of people from the audience started chanting slogans against Pakistan Army during Asma Jahangir Conference in Lahore yesterday, however, no action was taken nor any speaker stopped them from raising the controversial slogans.

The moments were seen when several notable personalities including ministers and journalists were present on the stage including Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) chairman Manzoor Pashteen, Balochistan National Party Mengal (BNP-M) chief Akhtar Mengal and others.

The event was also attended by Foreign Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Several videos of the anti-Pakistan Army sloganeering were posted on social media, however, no action was taken as yet.

Firebrand PTM chairman Manzoor Pashteen also took aim at the Pakistan Army and said that democracy does not exist in the country but a monarchy and the army chief becomes the King who issues all orders.

During Bilawal’s speech, several people from the audience stood up and chanted slogans to demand the release of the incarcerated Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from South Waziristan and co-founder of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).

When his speech was interrupted several times, Bilawal asked the protestors to demand his release from those who have the power to release him. He said, “You should go and protest in front of those who have the power to release him [MNA Ali Wazir].”

He expressed helplessness to release MNA Ali Wazir after his speech was interrupted by sloganeering during the closing ceremony of the Asma Jahangir Conference.
