‘Choor Choor’ slogans: Pakistan’s political conflict reaches Masjid-e-Nabavi PBUH

Pakistan’s political conflict reached Medina as pilgrims surrounded, manhandled the government delegation and chanted 'Choor Choor' slogans in one of the holiest sites of Muslims, Masjid-e-Nabavi PBUH.

MEDINA: Pakistan’s political conflict has reached Medina as a group of pilgrims surrounded, manhandled the government delegation and chanted slogans against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in one of the holiest sites of Muslims, Masjid-e-Nabavi Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH).

In one such condemnable act to convert the holy site of Masjid-e-Nabavi PBUH into a political battlefield, pilgrims surrounded Shahzain Bugti and Marriyum Aurangzeb while they shouted slogans, “Shehbaz Sharif! Choor Choor!’

Videos of the sorrowful incident have gone viral on social media platforms.

Despite security guards trying to protect them from the outrageous crowd, one of the pilgrims dragged Shahzain Bugti by his hair, filmed the video and immediately run away from the scene.

PM Shehbaz Sharif did not come out of his vehicle which was heavily guarded by the security officials.

It may be noted here that PM Sharif along with a government delegation arrived in Medina yesterday to perform Umrah during his Saudi Arabia visit where he will also meet the top leadership of the Kingdom.

Among PTI leaders, Dr Shahbaz Gill condemned the incident after sharing several tweets.

He said that respecting the mosque is mandatory. Dr Gill claimed that Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) had already warned Marriyum Aurangzeb and Shehbaz Sharif before departing for Saudi Arabia that he could have faced protests.

He advised the government leaders to stay away from the nationals who are extremely angry over the developments in the country.

In another tweet, he said that a protest should also be staged within moral boundaries. “I have seen some videos in which people were trying to attack them. This situation cannot be supported at any cost. Your anger is okay and you should record your protest but maintain respect for the sanctity of a holy site and moral limits.”

Fawad Chaudhry defended the protest and wrote on Twitter that the politicians are currently holding power but how could they come out of their houses when people kicked them off from the parliament.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) faced backlash from the nationals for the disgraceful act of its activists at the holiest site of Masjid-e-Nabavi PBUH which attracts Muslims from all parts of the world without any political or ethnic discrimination.

Nationals took to social media platforms to condemn the shameful act of PTI activists and supporters at the Masjid-e-Nabavi PBUH. ‘#توہین_مسجد_نبوی_نامنظور’ [No to disrespect of Masjid-e-Nabavi PBUH] became a top trend on Twitter to condemn the incident.
