Karachi LG Polls; Delay in results raises many questions
According to the unofficial results, the ruling party Peoples Party has won more than 700 seats in the municipal elections of Hyderabad division.
In the second phase of local body elections held in Karachi and Hyderabad divisions, the ruling party People’s Party lost heavily, from evening to night, and from night to morning.
After the polling in seven districts of Karachi and 9 districts of Hyderabad, counting of votes is still going on while the results are still coming.
Journalists covering the results in Karachi faced difficulties. Journalists were kicked out of several polling stations and were not allowed to cover the counting of votes. Journalists were barred from coverage at the DRO office at Urdu University. DEO Amin Bashir kicked out the journalists.

Hyderabad Division Results
According to the unofficial and unofficial results of the Hyderabad division, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s party has won more than 700 seats over the PPP.
According to media reports, more than 56 independent candidates won seats in Hyderabad division, PTI bagged 50 seats while GDA bagged only 11 seats. Jamaat-e-Islami got 10 seats while JUI(F) got only 5 seats.
8 District Members and 5 Chairman of People’s Party were elected to District Council Matiari.
13 District Members and 10 Chairman of People’s Party were elected in Badin.
12 District Members and 9 Chairman of People’s Party have been elected in District Dadu.
5 District Members and 7 Chairman of People’s Party were elected to District Council Jamshoro.
According to the unofficial and unofficial results, the People’s Party has won in 12 of the 14 wards of Badin. Tehreek-e-Insaf and GDA have won from one ward each.
Out of 12 wards of district Matli, PPP has won in 11 wards.
PPP has won three out of four wards of Badin Town Committee Raju Kanani while GDA has won one.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, looking at the results of local government elections, has claimed that People’s Party has made a clean sweep in the second phase of local government elections.
Statement of Election Commissioner Sindh
Election Commissioner Sindh Ijaz Anwar Chauhan says that the process of over-all voting in the second phase of local body elections was peaceful. No serious complaint was received anywhere during the entire process. 38 complaints of minor nature were received out of which 34 complaints were redressed in time.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui’s press conference
The low turnout in Karachi and Hyderabad division was declared by MQM Pakistan as a victory for its position, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that today Dhandali lost, Karachi won. Accusing the Election Commission of bias, he said that if an organization cannot conduct a transparent election, there is no need for it.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the politics of MQM is not dependent on the Houses. MQM has withdrawn the contract to form and save governments.
He said that MQM has called a general workers meeting on Wednesday to prepare its future action plan.
