Mockery of Democracy Made During Presidential Address
It was not just the opposition parties that staged a protest inside NA, journalists and sacked government workers also took to the roads against the government on different grounds
The presidential address to the parliament happened amid what can be called a mockery of the democracy as no entity in the scenario showed flexibility.
President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi addressed the joint session of Parliament on Monday on the completion of three years of PTI government.
However, the address happened amid the protests which were non-traditional this year.
It was not just the opposition parties that staged a protest inside the national assembly (NA) during Dr Alvi’s speech, the journalists and sacked government workers also took to the roads against the government on different grounds.

Inside the house, the opposition members raised slogans when the president started his speech.
They surrounded Speaker Asad Qaisar’s dais and later boycotted the session.
The lawmakers held placards inscribed with anti-government slogans.
The opposition leaders then joined the protest of the journalists outside the legislature.
On the other hand, the PTI-led government also made a mockery of the democracy as it did not allow journalists to sit in the press gallery during the presidential address.
The journalists were barred from joining the annual address in the wake of the protest call by the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) to stage a walkout from the press gallery.
The analysts said that none including the government and the opposition honored democratic values and made a mockery of them.
