Pakistan Cricket Team Struggles With Coronavirus

The players have not been allowed to hold practice session despite testing negative

Ten members of the Pakistan cricket team contracted the novel coronavirus that put all players under restrictions from practicing on the ground in New Zealand.

According to PCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Waseem Khan, the Covid-19 test of 44 members of the Pakistani delegation came negative but only the positive cases were publicized.

He expressed disappointment as to why the majority of the players were denied to practice on the ground even after their third Covid-19 test result came out negative.

He added that he was in touch with New Zealand Cricket Board officials on the situation.

The overseas tours of the Pakistan cricket team often remain subject to controversies. However for some time now, the attitude of the players towards cricket has been very serious. However, the contagion turned the game around.

The national cricket team arrived in New Zealand on November 24 and has been in quarantine ever since.

The cricketers will be tested again on December 9, after which the decision to allow the players to practice or not will be made by the New Zealand government.

Who is to blame?

It is a known fact that when the players left Pakistan, their Covid-19 tests were negative.

The players went to New Zealand and got infected with the virus. The Pakistan cricket team is also pointed fingers at for not taking care of the SOPs.

Furthermore, PCB is also being criticized for continuing the tour despite the tough decision of the New Zealand authorities.

The question which arises is that how did ten players fell victim to the virus? It would not be wrong to say that the New Zealand administration is also to be blamed for their carelessness in monitoring the activities of the players.
