Parents receive threats after case lodged in Ocean Mall escalator accident

Administration of Karachi’s Ocean Mall shopping centre allegedly used threatening tone with the parents after a horrific escalator accident.

After being criticised over criminal negligence, the administration of Karachi’s Ocean Mall shopping centre has allegedly used a threatening tone with the parents after their three-year-old child suffered a horrific accident due to a faulty escalator.

The horrible accident had taken place in Clifton’s Ocean Mall shopping centre located in a posh area of the metropolis in March. A case was also lodged against the Ocean Mall administration over the escalator accident in which the boy almost lost his leg after getting seriously wounded.

The management of Ocean Mall in Clifton area of Posh area of Karachi resorted to intimidation and making false cases against the parents of the 3-year-old boy who was the victim of their negligence.

Instead of bearing the medical expenses of the seriously injured boy, the Ocean Mall administration threatened the parents and allegedly lodged false cases against them.

Civil society staged a protest at Clifton’s Teen Talwar against the shopping centre’s administration, moreover, ‘BanOceanMall’ became a top trend on Twitter.

The father of the affected child namely Aman Raza Khan, Taufeeq Ali Khan lodged a case against the Ocean Mall’s owner and administration.

The injured boy was first shifted to South City Hospital and later he was shifted to a hospital at Tariq Road.

Taufeeq told the media that the mall’s owner and administration were giving him life threats to stay away from the media and social media. He said that he has also lodged a complaint to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing besides informing the police department.
