Rs4.5m bank draft fraud: Professor complains about Islamabad police inaction

Dr Imranul Haq Khan, assistant professor of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST) was defrauded of Rs4.58 million through a fake bank draft while selling his vehicle in Islamabad.

A person who bought an unregistered zero-meter car from an assistant professor for Rs4.58 million got away with the car after handing him over a fake bank draft.

The highly-educated Grade-19 professor kept visiting the police stations to get justice, after the matter became viral on social media, the special assistant to the prime minister (SAPM) Atta Tarar and the inspector general (IG) Islamabad police took notice and later the police department registered a case.

In his video shared on social media, Dr Imranul Haq said that he has sold his car Honda City Aspire 1.5 after reaching an agreement with a person. “I have received Faisal Bank’s draft of Rs45 lakh 80 thousand from him.”

They said that he found nothing but humiliation in the police stations of Islamabad for two days and he faced disrespectful behaviour at the Sangjani police station.

He said that he is a very well-educated person, he has done masters from Sweden and a PhD in chemical engineering from Malaysia and I am an assistant professor of 19th grade in PAF-IAST. He added that he was turned from hero to zero as all of his savings were attached to his car.

He appealed to the government, prime minister, army chief, chief justice, army chief and IG Islamabad for justice and said that his FIR has not been registered yet and his car has not been registered yet. He appealed that his vehicle should be traced immediately through Safe City cameras before it is registered somewhere.

It has been said from the Twitter handle of Islamabad Police that the accused contacted the citizen through an online advertisement and came to the plaintiff’s house through a fake bank draft and bought the car and the plaintiff himself handed over the car to the accused.

The police have registered a case and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
