TikToker Dolly booked for allegedly setting Margalla hills’ forest area on fire

The videos of the model and TikTok influencer Dolly have gone viral on social media, drawing severe public criticism over the heinous act.

ISLAMABAD: A famous TikTok influencer namely Dolly has been booked by the Islamabad police for allegedly setting the forest area of Margala Hills on fire for shooting her video, while some other videos purportedly showed other TikTokers setting fires in other spots.

The videos of the model and TikTok influencer Dolly have gone viral on social media, drawing severe public criticism over the heinous act. A media outlet reported that the model was shooting a promotional video for a clothing brand but the public outrage forced them to take down the videos.

A case was filed against TikToker Dolly at Kohsar police station under concerned sections of the Forest Act 1927, Environmental Protection Act 1997 and Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Ordinance 1979.

The First Information Report (FIR) stated that it was allegedly the area of Margalla Hills National Park where several fire incidents were reported a few days ago, causing destruction to the green areas and wildlife.

Rina Saeed Khan Satti, the chairperson of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and a climate activist, condemned the fire incidents and called it ‘a disturbing and disastrous trend on TikTok”. She wrote on Twitter, “Young people desperate for followers are setting fire to our forests during his hot and dry season!”

She added, “In Australia it is lifetime imprisonment for those who start wildfires. We need to introduce similar legislation.”

A few days ago, Satti also demanded strict action against the young people seen in the video who are setting fire in the Margalla Hills’ forest area.

She wrote on Twitter, “These psychotic young people have to be caught and put behind bars immediately! If you have any information plz contact.”

TikTok released an official statement in response to the development that the content promoting dangerous and illegal behaviour will not be allowed as it would be a violation of the community guidelines. Such content will be removed, limited or labelled as dangerous or illegal acts, it read.

Earlier a week ago, a viral video showed a young man, who is allegedly a TikTok influencer, deliberately setting a forest in Abbottabad on fire, later, he was arrested.

It is important to mention here that two major fires broke out on Sunday and Monday in Saidpur range and Chinari area of Margallas during the current season.
