Sindh is the first province that has opted for a partial lockdown focusing Karachi until August 8 after raging covid-19 cases in the fourth wave of the pandemic and medical experts back its significance.

The callous behavior of the citizens of Karachi ushered in a dangerous situation and the positivity rate in the largest city of the country soared to over 25%.

Ensuing, the medical experts had persistently started calling for a complete lockdown in the city to break the virus chain.
Even after several warnings and calls for cooperation, the locals of Karachi had started assuming that they have become immune to the virus without vaccination.
The open disregard of Nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) t public sites was also underway.
The poor rate of inoculation in the city inhabited roughly by 20 million people raised the specter and hospitals started getting brimmed with infected patients.
The mortality rate in the metropolis had also reached a substantial level as most of the daily deaths being reported from Sindh were from Karachi.
Further, the provincial government has also imposed a ban on inter-city travel to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
The measure is significant to stop the affluence of people who come to Karachi from other parts of the province and country to find a job.
The business activities have also been shut down along with any kind of mass gatherings and dining at restaurants.
The shops dealing with necessities will remain open between 6 am and 6 pm.
Food delivery is allowed but the delivery boys are required to keep the vaccination card with them.
To encourage vaccination, the government has put the condition of displaying inoculation cards in case of stepping out of home for emergency purposes.
The police have also been authorized to check the vaccination cards of the citizens roaming the streets. The provincial government has assured of smoothness in the mass vaccination drive.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has appealed to the masses to cooperate with the government to break the virus chain.
