In another dramatic development, the Sindh High Court (SHC) judge Justice Salahuddin Panhwar has excused himself from hearing the girl abduction case.

KARACHI: In another dramatic development, the Sindh High Court (SHC) judge Justice Salahuddin Panhwar has excused himself from hearing the girl abduction case.

The SHC judge excused himself from hearing the girl abduction case and referred the case to another court. The hearing of the case will be resumed on November 17 now.

The high court was hearing a petition regarding the cancellation of bail of the accused, Zaheer Ahmed and Shabbir Ahmed, whereas, Zaheer sought permission from the court to meet his wife Dua Zehra.

Dr Fatima Riaz disrupted the hearing of the case. Dr Riaz was sent by the Sindh health department for assisting the recovered girl’s mental health.

It was also learnt that the psychiatrist had contacted the girl’s father Mehdi Ali Kazmi and created a drama after reaching his home. Moreover, she also tried to contact Kazmi’s lawyer Jibran Nasir regarding the case.

She was also asking people to provide the contact number of the SHC judge who was hearing the case. She also levelled serious allegations against the judge.

According to Kazmi’s lawyer Jibran Nasir, the petition filed by the accused seeking permission for meeting with the girl was rejected by the court while the plea for recording a statement under 164 was deferred. He said that some unpleasant events happened in the courtroom.

Nasir expressed concerns over the provincial health department for appointing a doctor who needs medical assistance. He added that Dr Riaz is also facing an inquiry and violating professional ethics by sharing the medical reports on social media.

He expressed concerns that all doctors related to the case came from Lyari General Hospital or Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical College Lyari despite the best physicians can be sent from many other hospitals.

He said that he requested the health secretary to address the issue, otherwise, they will no option other than moving the court again.

After the SHC judge excused himself from hearing the case, the trial court will now resume the hearing on November 17.
