Quetta was shattered by another blast on the day when civilian leadership was being briefed by the military leadership over national security. The blast occurred on Quetta’s Airport Road near Askari Park on Thursday night in which at least six casualties were reported, all are in critical condition.
The target was the convoy of six vehicles of the Pakistan Army.
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials told that explosive material weighing around five kilograms (kgs) was fitted in a motorcycle.

This is the fourth terrorist attack in Balochistan since February targeting Pakistan Army and Frontier Constabulary (FC).
In the meantime, the military top brass briefed the lawmakers in an in-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security. The meeting lasted for about 8 hours.
Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General (DG) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed briefed the parliamentarians over the changing security condition in Pakistan and the imminent impact of US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The federal ministers and the opposition leaders including the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Senator Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, JUI-F Parliamentary leader Maulana Asad Mahmood, ANP leader Ameer Haider Azam Khan Hoti, and MQM-P’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui attended the briefing.
However, Prime Minister Imran Khan was not present in the meeting.
After the briefing, the parliamentarians also had a round of questions and answers with the military leadership.
The opposition members came out satisfied and contended from the in-camera briefing and backed the government’s stance on the provision of bases to the US after its withdrawal from Afghanistan and relations with China.
The political and defense analysts say the parliamentarians need to display same sort of unity on the matters of national security, brushing aside politics.
They added that India and other anti-Pakistan forces have started to reassemble in Afghanistan as they are going to get a clear field once US troops leave the war-torn country.
They said that the recent wave of attacks in Pakistan is a validation that the terrorist groups backed by anti-Pakistan forces are amalgamating in the neighboring country.
Their motive is to destabilize Pakistan through terror activities and they are zeroed in at China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which is likely to bring prosperity to the country besides increasing its geographical significance.
