ECP Objections on EVM: Preannouncement of Controversial 2023 Polls
The commission said the introduction of technology in haste will not ensure free and fair polls as required by the constitution
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has raised 37 objections on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) which is being deemed as the preannouncement of controversial general elections in 2023.
After reviewing the machine, ECP submitted its report before the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs on Tuesday.
The commission in its report said the results produced from the machine can be altered easily.
ECP has also disclosed its inability to place EVM machines on large-scale and training officers before the general elections two years later.

The contention surrounding the voting machine is serving as the preannouncement of controversial elections in 2023, the political analysts say.
They said that all political parties will cash in on the situation in the next elections whether they are held with EVM or traditionally.
The analysts expressed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will allege rigging in the next general polls if the process happens traditionally and the party losses.
On the other hand, if the opposition parties don’t get the victory, they will blame the electronic machine for tampered results.
