Govt could reduce expenses by 747 billion rupees, claims Experts
150 billion in civil government expenditure, 164 billion in subsidies, 109 billion in pension and 200 billion in defense budget is possible, sum of 747 billion rupees will be 0.8% of country's deficit, experts said
The federal government, which imposed taxes of 170 billion rupees on the demand of the IMF, could have saved 747 billion rupees by reducing its expenses, but the entire burden of taxes of 170 billion rupees was placed on the shoulders of the poor.
Economists have traced the possible savings of 747 billion rupees in terms of government expenditure in various sectors.
Economists say that the expenses of the civil government can be reduced by 150 billion rupees from 553 billion rupees to 400 billion rupees. The expenditure on grants and transfers can be reduced by 174 billion rupees from 1174 billion rupees to 1000 billion rupees.

Similarly, subsidies can be reduced by 164 billion rupees from 664 billion rupees to 500 billion rupees, while 109 billion rupees can be saved by making cuts in pensions and the expenses incurred in this regard can be brought from 609 billion rupees to 500 billion rupees.
Experts say that if the government shows courage, 200 billion rupees can be saved by reducing the defense budget from 1563 billion rupees to 1363 billion rupees.
Experts say that if the government cuts the expenditure in these periods, the expenditure will decrease by 747 billion rupees, which is about 0.8% of the deficit.
