Hassan Nisar: Here is how Geo News violating own ‘Asool’ against incitement, violence

After making a statement for pro-democracy people to be dealt by a firing squad, Geo News has seemingly neglected its own rules defined in ‘Geo Asool’ against incitement and violence by allowing Hassan Nisar in one of its show Report Card hosted by Aleena Farooq Sheikh.

Political analyst and columnist Hassan Nisar had faced severe criticism for giving the opinion to give powers to a fascist government for the next 15 years and pro-democracy should be dealt with by a firing squad.

In the video clip being shared on Twitter, he suggested sending those taking the name of democracy to the firing squad and the expense of each bullet should be recovered from their families. Nisar added that it is our national duty to give 15 more years to Imran Khan.

However, the Geo News administration has kept its eyes closed to implementing its set of rules defined in Geo Asool which is available on its website to avoid taking stances spreading violence, incitement and anti-democracy and pro-dictatorship.

Hassan Nisar’s demand for ‘15-year fascist govt’ draws wide criticism

Despite Hassan Nisar’s statement full of promoting violence and anti-democratic terms, he was given an opportunity to appear in the Geo News program Report Card on January 3.

The very first ‘goal’ mentioned on Geo Asool is:

a) To encourage tolerance in the society

For we believe, tolerance for each others ideas and feedback will make us overcome our differences and will make us grow instead of being divided and retarded by them; and will help us move our country and our people towards a progressive and peaceful society; a society that we all deserve.

In its likes and dislikes section:

Geo Asool defined that the news channel will always favour democracy over dictatorships no matter how bad a political government might appear to be and how good an individual dictator might promise to be.

Point number 6 under the category of ‘Likes and Dislikes’ read:

6. Democracy vs. the Dictatorship: We will always favor democracy over dictatorships no matter how bad a political government might appear to be and how good an individual dictator might promise to be. Our bias in favour of democracy is fixed. However, we do believe that a real democracy includes an independent judiciary, a free media, the ability to have an independent foreign policy, easy access to information, accountability of elected officials with regular, free and fair elections within and amongst political parties.

It may be noted that Geo News declared ‘Asool’ as its constitution ‘derived from GEO Asool Vision Document’.

Hassan Nisar had made the shocking statement while being interviewed by Samaa TV anchorperson Paras Jahanzaib in which he said that the country needed an uninterrupted 15 years of fascism.
